Temperature Sensors for Exhaust Gases
Return to Engine Management Systems
DENSO: THE DIFFERENCE
The Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor (EGTS), installed in front of the oxidation catalyst (DOC) and / or in front of the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), detects the temperature of the exhaust gas, converts it into a voltage and sends it to the ECU of the engine to check its operating conditions and effectively reduce emissions.
Features and Benefits
Small and very reactive:
The DENSO processing technique, which uses ceramic particles, produces a small thermistor (detector element) with a specific shape.
The sensitive part, inserted in the exhaust pipe with the thermistor, has a single tube structure instead of a double one like the conventional temperature sensors; this allows a reduction in volume up to 90% compared to them.
The sensitive part and the shaped thermistor guarantee high reactivity, it takes less than 7 seconds to pass from room temperature to 1000 ° C.
Resistant to heat and vibration:
No sensor breakage on the exhaust system.
Able to withstand vibrations even near the engine.
Great detection accuracy:
Despite its small size, the EGT sensor detects temperatures within ± 10 degrees of the actual temperature.
Able to detect temperature ranges between - 40 ° C and 1000 ° C.
Types
